“The Eyes Have It” 
​This is the first in a series of presentations on carving eyes, nose, mouth and ears. This is a hands-on demonstration so please bring a carving knife, small gouge or two, pencil and glove. Wood will be furnished. We will follow a step-by-step process for carving an eye. The presentation will also cover positioning, basic structure, nomenclature and key things to remember about carving the eye. Our ideal will be Michelangelo’s “David”. No guarantees that we will achieve that goal.

As usual the meeting will be at the St. Stephens Methodist Church, 400 N New Orleans, Broken Arrow.

Did you know?
There are nearly 30 "You Tube" videos about woodcarving, wood turning, power carving, how-to's on tool sharpening, and even making your own  knife. Everything from the simple to the complex. It's all here.
To access, click and hold down mouse on the "more" tab on the far right corner. When options appear, move the mouse to the left to "You Tube" and release. Then scroll down past the archived newsletters.  The videos will appear in descending order.
Be intentional! Carve Daily Don't be afraid to make mistakes; that's how  we all learn! Before long you'll enjoy the feeling of a sharp knife and a piece of wood in your hands. Remember your Kevlar glove and thumb guard!

Eastern Oklahoma Woodcarvers Association
Known as the EOWA, is a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting and expanding the timeless art form of woodcarving. Established in 1975, the organization has sponsored an annual Show & Sale for the past 41 years.
It numbers among its members a number of nationally- acclaimed practitioners of this centuries-old art, including the late native American, Willard Stone, whose striking commissioned pieces are on display at the world-famous Gilcrease Museum, located in Tulsa, OK.

Welcome! We hope you will spend some time on our site and explore the wonderful world of wood carving. 

We are a splinter group, but not intentionally!
Broken Arrow woodcarver, Bill Huggins, instructs a first-time carver during the 2018 Woodcarvers Show/Sale & Folk Arts Festival. Free classes are offered both days during the event.

The Eastern Oklahoma Woodcarvers Association exists to preserve, promote, and perpetuate the timeless art of woodcarving for this and future generations through education, seminars, and weekly hands-on instruction.
